Mosaic Arts & More
FAQs and POLICIES
FAQs:
1.  Where do the foliage and flowers originate and are they all natural?
All plant materials used in the pressed flower artwork are grown in my yard and then pressed for weeks in a flower press before they are ready to use.   No artificial fillers are used in the pictures and no dyes are used in the pressing process.
2.  How long does Pressed Flower Art last?
For years & years if it is properly cared for.  The best way to preserve the flowers and make sure they last for years to come is to NOT put the picture in direct sunlight or even strong indirect light.    Strong light is the most destructive force to pressed flower art.    All of my artwork is framed using standard glass.   If you must hang your flowers in a place that has some fairly strong indirect light, it might be a good investment to purchase UV conservation glass for your piece at some point .  Even this special glass, however, cannot keep vibrant flower colors intact in bright light!
3.  Can the Pressed Flower Art be customized?
Yes, in several ways:  (1)  If you like a particular design but would like other colors used, I may be able to accommodate that, with the understanding that the flowers themselves will change.   (2)  I can change the background color and can customize it as well using watercolors.  (3)  I can change the color of the frame (within certain limits).  (4)  I can make the picture smaller, or larger, in most cases.
4.  How are the Mosaic Mirrors made?
The mirrors are composed of many different materials which are listed under each piece I offer.  I use ceramic tile, stained glass, beads, shells, small pebbles, gems, old buttons, and anything else that might look nice (or interesting).  All mirrors are mounted on 1/2" plywood frames (for strength and stability), which are then sanded and sealed to minimize adhesion materials soaking into the wood.  Sanded grout is always used for maximum stability.   The grout is then sealed with a 5-year warrantied sealer.
5.  How do I hang my mirror?  D-rings are used on the back of the piece for maximum strength when hanging.  Many of my mirrors are fairly heavy; please make sure you use an appropriate wall anchoring system prior to hanging your mirror.  A simple long nail will NOT work for these pieces unless it happens to hit a stud in the wall.

6.  Can the Mosaic Mirrors be customized?

Yes!  I am very willing to make a custom mosaic mirror to suit your decor, so if there's a particular mirror you like, but the colors just won't work, tell me what colors would, and I can custom make your mirror (often for no additional charge if the approximate size stays the same).   Likewise, if you see a round mosaic mirror and you like the colors but would rather have a square/rectangular/oval mirror, I can use those same colors in the shape of your choice (in this case there may be additional charges if the overall mirror ends up being larger or more complex; I will let you know the additional costs ahead of time).  In my "art" mirrors with specific designs, you can further customize a mirror to add certain flowers, leaves, shells and colors.
If you order a custom piece from me, I require 1/2 down payment at the time of the order (to purchase your mirror, glass, and other supplies) and the balance (plus packing & shipping) due before mailing.
7.  Is there any way I can see the mosaic pieces (to insure color choice) prior to actually purchasing a mirror?
Yes.   Please see the details below, under SAMPLES.

ORDERING:  If you see a mirror or pressed flower picture on this site you are interested in purchasing, please send me an email.  Some of the mirrors and pictures have already been sold at galleries and through this website, however, I am always able to make a customized version just for you.  I am set up to accept payments through PayPal (which takes debit and credit cards as well as direct Paypal account payments).  In other words, you don't need to have an actual PayPal account to use this system.  This private system gives confidence to buyers since even online merchants cannot see a customer's credit/debit card number, expiration dates or codes.  Once you are ready to order a custom mirror, send me an email and we'll talk over all the details and changes you want.  When a price is agreed upon, I will email you a PayPal invoice for the down payment.  Once the 1/2 payment has been received, I will order your custom materials and start work on your project, keeping in close touch with you as the process moves along.  When completed, I will email you a detailed photo (or photos) for your approval.  Final payment (plus packing/shipping) will be due when the piece is completed and ready for mailing.  If you have ANY questions about any part of this process, please send me an email and we can communicate either through email or by phone.  I am happy to answer any & all questions; I want this to be a very pleasant buying experience!  (
Pam@MosaicArtsandmore.com).
I also accept money orders and personal checks, which can be mailed to me.  Please know that this is the slowest way to receive your art.   After the check is received and deposited, it can take up to another 10 days for it to fund into my bank before I can ship out the artwork.    If you are ordering from the "On Sale" page of my website and the piece is still in stock, I will make every effort to ship out your order within 24-48 hours of receipt (excepting weekends and holidays).   Custom order time-tables will be discussed at the time of the order.

SOLD Pieces:   If you see something on this web site that you'd like to purchase (or need more information about) and it says "SOLD", please contact me.  Even though all of the pieces are individually made and are one-of-a-kind, I am happy to make a similar piece on request.

Satisfaction Guarantee & Return Policy:
 ~
Policy for ready-made mirrors & flower art
I want you to be 100% pleased with whatever you buy from me.  If you're not satisfied with your purchase, I accept returns within 10 days of your receipt of the art.   Please email me to let me know your concerns and see if there is anything I can do to remedy the situation.  If not, you may package the piece up in the original packaging and ship it back to me.   You will receive a full refund (minus shipping charges) once I have received the piece back safely.
~ Policy for Custom-Made Mirrors & Flower Art:    Half-down payment is required at the time of a custom order.  Prior to your first payment, all aspects of your special piece will be discussed in great detail.  You also have the option of purchasing sample glass pieces sent to your home so they can be viewed (and approved) by you; this is a step I highly recommend!  After an agreement has been made between us, and the half-down paid, I begin to place orders with my suppliers for your custom-sized mirror, the sheets of glass I'll need to complete your mirror, as well as the special-made wood frame.  After half payment has been made and prior to the project beginning, I am always happy to do a dry run for you on a sample board, with your chosen colors and partial design, and email you detailed photos for your approval.  If, after viewing the photos, you desire color or design changes, I am happy to accommodate change requests at this point.  When I am finished with your project, I will email you several photos from different angles for your final OK before final payment and shipping.  At this point, if you have concerns about the result and decide not to pay the final payment,  I will respect that decision and refund you whatever balance remains after the purchase of the mirror and your custom glass, plus a nominal fee for my time.  I am not able to refund monies that have already been spent towards your special project, and those will be deducted from your half-down payment.  [Thankfully, this situation has never occurred, but this is my policy, should it ever happen.]

SAMPLES:    I am very willing to let you see any of the materials I use for the mosaic mirrors..in fact, I highly recommend this!   I realize that computer monitors vary and can give a distorted view (or color) of any object.   If you have questions or concerns about the actual colors, let me know and I will send you a sample of each piece/color you need to see with your own eye.   The cost for these samples (I will send one of each type and color used) is $6.00 for up to 10 pieces of material.  You also have the option of ordering additional pieces. Prices includes shipping and packing materials.   A PayPal "BUY NOW" button has been installed at the top of Page 4 of the Mirror Gallery for this purpose.  Be sure to send me an email to let me know what colors you'd like sent.

PACKING & SHIPPING:      I am committed to providing you with the most cost effective shipping service available.   It is not my policy to make any profit on Packing & Shipping charges.   I usually ship via FedEx Home Delivery for cost savings and safe arrival.  Shipping charges will vary according to your distance from Washington State.  For most of the mirrors listed on my site, shipping charges (as of Jan.2011) amount to around $45 to ship from WA. state to the east coast (locations closer to WA. will be less).  Shipping deliveries to Eastern U.S. locations usually takes about 5 to 7 business days. My largest (and heaviest) mirrors, of course, will incur greater shipping costs.  Packing charges are in addition to shipping costs and include heavy-duty packaging materials necessary for the safe mailing of stained glass mirrors.   Again, no extra fees are added; I add only the actual cost of the materials I have to use to safely ship your mirror.  Most FedEx art boxes cost between $10 and $20.  Smaller pieces of artwork (pressed flowers) should ship for somewhere between $10 to $15 (this is variable of course and depends on the delivery area).  If you are in my local area (Thurston, Mason, Lewis Counties in WA. state) or anywhere else within driving distance, you are welcome to come pick up your art and save on Packing & Shipping charges.
